Electrical Engineering Fundamentals: DC Circuit Analysis
Course Description
A direct current circuit is an electrical circuit in which current flows in only one direction. This is in contrast to alternating current systems, where the direction of current periodically reverses. Direct current systems are widely used in many applications. Common examples include battery-powered electronics, electric vehicles, portable devices, telecommunications equipment, and solar energy storage systems. In a DC circuit, a voltage source such as a battery or power supply provides the energy needed to move electrons through a conductive path. These electrons flow through components such as resistors, loads, sensors, or electronic devices before returning to the source. Understanding how current flows and how energy is distributed in a DC circuit is essential for designing safe and reliable electrical systems.
