Course Description
Geothermal energy is the heat stored beneath the Earth’s surface. It originates from the residual heat of Earth’s formation, the radioactive decay of minerals, and solar energy absorbed by the crust. This heat can be harnessed for electricity production or for direct heating applications. The geothermal gradient, or the rate at which temperature increases with depth, varies globally and affects the availability of geothermal resources.
