Wind Energy Design and Fundamentals
Course Description
Wind energy refers to the process of converting the kinetic energy of moving air into useful mechanical or electrical energy. Humans have used wind power for thousands of years. Historically, windmills were used for grinding grain, pumping water, and performing mechanical work. However, the modern application of wind energy focuses on electricity generation using wind turbines. In recent decades, technological advancements and growing environmental concerns have driven significant investment in renewable energy technologies. Wind energy has become one of the most important sources of renewable electricity worldwide. The primary advantage of wind energy lies in the fact that it is clean, renewable, and abundant. Unlike fossil fuels, wind energy does not produce greenhouse gas emissions during operation. As a result, wind power plays a crucial role in global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and transition toward more sustainable energy systems.
