Course Description
Auxiliary power systems are specialized systems that provide backup or supplementary electricity whenever the main power supply fails or becomes unstable. Their primary purpose is to ensure that critical operations continue without interruption, prevent equipment damage, and maintain safety in essential facilities. Applications include hospitals, where life-support systems must remain operational; industrial plants, which rely on continuous production; data centers, to prevent data loss or downtime; ships and offshore installations, where navigation and safety systems are critical; and renewable energy setups, where these systems can help smooth out power fluctuations. The most common types of auxiliary power systems include diesel and gas generators, battery banks, uninterruptible power supplies, and emergency power units.
